Digging deeper on soil compaction and pugging

04 February 2022

Soil structure affects soil health and soil quality, and has a direct impact on soil water storage and movement, and therefore productivity and environmental outcomes at farm, regional and national scale.

In this webinar, Dr John Drewry from Manaaki Whenua's Palmerston North office outlines recent research under different land uses and management practices, showing the impacts of more intensive land use and irrigation on soil structure and indicators such as macroporosity. Data from national and regional reporting are also presented to build a picture of the extent and opportunities to improve soil physical health and quality.
